Oral defense platform

AI can write the paper. Can your student explain it?

Academic judgment, made visible.

Rocketproof runs AI-powered oral exams so faculty can verify that students actually understand their own work. Students submit, answer live questions, and get recorded — faculty review the transcript, score the rubric, and release feedback. No extra meetings. No guesswork.

Live preview

Watch a defense happen.

No video to press play on, no imagination required. This is the shape of every session: a question generated from the student's own work, a spoken answer, and a rubric score faculty can stand behind.

  • Questions come from the submission — not a question bank
  • Students answer out loud; the transcript captures every word
  • Scores land on your rubric criteria, with an integrity check attached
Why Rocketproof?

The full story, told by the platform itself.

A walk-through of how oral defenses work end-to-end on the platform — from the question plan Rocketproof builds, through a recorded session, to the faculty review surface where the rubric gets scored.

Our mission

To verify what students actually know, not just what they submitted.

Oral defenses are the gold standard for academic integrity. Rocketproof makes them scalable, giving faculty a structured review surface without adding hours of coordination overhead.

Every paper upload, presentation delivery, and reading response becomes a defensible evidence trail. Faculty review the record. Students know the standard. Institutions keep the rigor.

Why Rocketproof

Real evidence beats promises on paper.

Submission-only grading and honor pledges can't show you what a student understands. A recorded, source-aware oral defense can.

Platform capabilities

Everything faculty need, nothing they don't.

01

Source-aware questioning

Papers, decks, reading passages, and scenario prompts all shape the question path before the session starts.

A 40-page thesis generates 12 questions tied to its argument structure and cited sources — not a generic question bank.

02

Recorded evidence trail

Transcripts, delivery clips, identity checks, and environment scan artifacts stay organized inside one review surface.

Faculty open one panel and see a 14-minute recording, full transcript, identity check result, and rubric scores side by side.

03

Integrity controls

Enable only what matters: ID checks, environment scans, prompt leakage review, and anomaly alerts.

Enable ID check and environment scan for high-stakes finals; skip them entirely for low-stakes reading checks.

04

Faculty-first reporting

Source summaries, strengths, weak spots, hesitation patterns, and rubric scoring all in one review panel.

The AI flags "student hesitated on methodology questions" with a follow-up prompt the instructor can use immediately.

Available workflows

One system, eleven workflows.

Every workflow produces the same structured evidence trail, so faculty review stays consistent regardless of assignment type.

Lifecycle

A complete assessment lifecycle.

From the moment a faculty member creates an oral defense assignment to the moment they release feedback, Rocketproof carries the full evidence trail. Three real product views, in order, with no audio — a silent demo reel.

01Instructor

Create the assignment.

Instructors create an oral defense assignment, choose settings, select assignment types, and assign it to students.

02Student

Student completes the defense.

Students receive the assignment, respond through the guided workflow, and submit their work for review.

03Instructor

Review the submission.

Instructors review the student’s submission, transcript, AI-assisted analysis, and scoring support.

Institutional review

Built to pass the review nobody skips.

The questions your IT and compliance offices will ask — answered in plain language, not buried in a security PDF.

FERPA-aligned data handling

Student records are processed under your institution’s direction, consistent with FERPA. The full policy is public — no NDA required to read it.

FAQ

Questions faculty ask.

Does Rocketproof replace the instructor?

No. The platform prepares the questioning plan and draft analysis, but faculty review, adjust, and decide what gets released.

How long does a typical session take?

Most oral defense sessions run 12–22 minutes depending on workflow type, question depth, and submission length. Faculty can configure session caps per assignment.

What is stored after a session?

Recordings, transcripts, rubric scores, source summaries, and integrity artifacts. All stored behind signed access links per your settings.

Can I use my existing rubric?

Yes. Faculty can upload or recreate their rubric criteria inside Rocketproof. The platform maps rubric dimensions to session questions and scoring.

Can students complete without video?

Only if the instructor enables low-bandwidth audio-only mode for that assignment. Video remains the default path.

Is Rocketproof accessible for students with accommodations?

Yes. Extended time multipliers, audio-only mode, and question pacing settings are all configurable per-student or course-wide through accommodations settings.

Do you integrate with Canvas or Blackboard?

Rocketproof supports LTI 1.3 and grade passback (AGS) for Canvas, Blackboard, and other compliant LMS platforms.

Do you support literature classes?

Yes. Reading Assessment and Literature Analysis are separate workflows with configurable depth.

What happens if a student loses connection mid-session?

Sessions are recoverable. Students can resume from the last completed question within the session window. All captured data before disconnection is preserved.

How does pricing work for large courses?

Instructors are always free. Student seats are priced per semester pass. Department and institution licenses include volume discounts and centralized billing.
