For nursing and health sciences

Clinical conversations need practice before the first real patient.

A student learns to take a history by taking one. Standardized patients are expensive and hard to schedule, so students often get only a few encounters when they need many more. The written care plan shows what a student knows. It does not show how they ask a frightened patient about symptoms.

Two ways to use it

Simulate the situation. Assess the understanding.

The first example puts the student inside the situation. The second asks the student to explain and defend work they have produced. Both end in the same instructor review.

Simulate

Take a patient history

Assignment type: Role-Play Interview

The situation
A patient arrives with chest discomfort and answers only what they are asked. Some details come out only when the student asks the right follow-up.
The AI
An anxious 58-year-old patient with a defined history, symptoms, medications and a reason to understate how bad it is.
The student’s task
Interview the patient, decide what to ask next, and summarize the findings and the next step at the end.

What you can assess

  • Whether the student asked about the symptoms that matter
  • Clarity and empathy in how questions were asked
  • Reasoning behind the next step the student recommends

Assess

Defend a care plan

Assignment type: Paper Defense

The situation
A student submits a written care plan for a case study.
The AI
The AI examiner asks about the plan the student actually wrote.
The student’s task
Explain why each intervention was chosen and what the student would change if the patient’s condition shifted.

What you can assess

  • Clinical reasoning
  • Prioritization
  • Ability to explain a plan in their own words

These are examples of assignments an instructor could build. They are not customer case studies.

Build with AI

Start from a description, finish as the expert.

Describe the patient and the learning goal to the assignment assistant and it drafts the persona, the scenario and a starting rubric. You edit the patient’s history before any student sees it.

Rubric ideas

Criteria you might score against.

  • Gathers a focused history
  • Communicates with clarity and empathy
  • Prioritizes findings
  • Justifies the recommended next step

Every score is a draft with the evidence behind it. You review the transcript, adjust the scores and decide what is released. See how authentic assessment fits into a course.

Questions

Nursing and health sciences questions, answered.

Can Rocketproof be used for nursing simulations?

Yes. An instructor defines a patient persona, the presenting situation and the goal, and the student interviews the AI patient by voice or text. The transcript and rubric evidence go to the instructor for review. It supplements clinical placements and manikin labs. It does not replace them.

Can students practice without it counting toward their grade?

Yes. An assignment can be marked as practice. Practice attempts stay out of the gradebook and out of grade passback, and the student can repeat them.
