Why oral assessment
An explanation is harder to fake than a document.
A written artifact can be produced without being understood. Oral defense has been the standard check on that in doctoral programs for a very long time. Rocketproof makes it practical for an undergraduate section.

How does an AI oral exam work in Rocketproof?
A student submits a paper, code, slides or a reading response in Rocketproof or through the LMS. Rocketproof reads the submission and prepares a questioning plan drawn from its specific arguments, methods and sources. The student then answers aloud, in a live voice conversation, or by typing, with follow-up questions based on what they say. You review the recording, the transcript and the draft rubric scores before releasing a grade.
Are the questions drawn from the student’s own work?
Yes. For an upload-based assignment, the questions are generated from the submitted document and refer to what it actually says. For a reading assessment or oral examination you supply the source or the topics. You can also add your own questions to the plan before students begin.
Why use oral exams instead of AI text detection?
A text detector estimates how a piece of writing was produced. It says nothing about what the student knows, and a false flag lands on a real person. An oral defense asks the student to explain and extend the work in their own words, which gives you evidence of understanding without accusing anyone of anything.
Can students with speech anxiety or disabilities take oral exams?
Yes. Text Conversation mode needs no microphone or camera. Approved accommodations include extended time multipliers, audio-only mode and adjusted pacing, set per student or for the whole course.
Does Rocketproof record students, and how invasive is it?
Recording depends on the assignment. Integrity checks such as an ID check, an environment scan and anomaly alerts are set per assignment, and you can turn each one on or off. Rocketproof does not track eye movement. Recordings and transcripts are stored behind signed links and kept for the retention window your institution sets.
