Our commitment
Rocketproof is used by students to complete assessed work, so a barrier in the product can become a barrier to a grade. We design and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we treat an accessibility defect that blocks a student as a high-priority bug.
Conformance status
Rocketproof is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA: some parts of the product do not yet fully meet the standard. This is our own assessment. No independent accessibility audit has been completed, and our Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT) is an internally prepared draft that institutions can request.
What is in place
- Controls are built to work from the keyboard, with visible focus and a skip link to the main content.
- During a defense session, the phase, the timer and progress are announced to screen readers. Focus moves to each new question.
- Rubric scores, review tabs and form errors are labelled. Invalid values are announced and linked to their field.
- Every recording is transcribed. Instructors see captions when they review video, and students can read the transcript of their own recorded replies.
- Animations respect the “reduce motion” setting. Timer urgency and errors are written out, not shown by color alone.
- Text contrast was measured across the product in September 2026. Failures on light and dark surfaces were corrected.
- Instructors can give individual students more time, pause allowances, extra attempts, and audio-only or typed responses in place of video.
- Automated checks run on every change: accessibility lint rules, component tests with axe-core, and a test that fails if an icon-only button has no accessible name.
Known limitations
- A full manual test with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver) across every workflow has not been completed yet. Automated tests cannot catch every problem.
- When a transcript has no timestamps, captions for instructor review are approximate. They are off by default in that case, and the written transcript is available with the recording.
- Documents and media that instructors or students upload are only as accessible as their source files.
- When Rocketproof runs inside a learning management system, the surrounding pages belong to that system and its own accessibility statement applies.
- Some internal Rocketproof staff tools have outstanding form-labelling issues. No student, instructor or institution administrator uses them.

Accommodations such as extra time or a different response format are set by your instructor for your course. Contact your instructor or your institution’s disability services office. They can apply the accommodation in Rocketproof without anything further from you.
